About Martin
Professional librarian
Before launching Adroit Editing, I served with distinction as a professional librarian and senior manager in Canada’s ninth-largest public library.
For almost thirty years I have worked with all kinds of print and digital material—from children’s non-fiction books to library building programs; from cookbooks to employment contracts; and of course, numerous catalogues, databases, and indexes, both print and electronic.
In addition to running Adroit Editing, I now proofread for Architectural Histories, an international, blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Ubiquity Press.
Broad general knowledge
Developing library collections and serving people’s information needs gave me a very broad general knowledge that is helpful in editing and indexing. My training and experience in information science is also an asset in research and fact-checking.
Educated in the UK and US, resident of Vancouver Island, Canada since 1981
I am familiar with variations in spelling, punctuation, and dialect.
